Asaba Agog for African Senior Athletics Championship

The capital of Delta State, Asaba, is gearing up for the 2018 edition of African Senior Athletics Championship taking place from August 1 to 5, 2018.

Preparatory to the hosting of the Championship, the Delta State Government has embarked on the total reconstruction of the state-owned 22,000 sitting capacity Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, to a world class standard.

While welcoming participants and guests from all over the world to the international event, Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government, Asaba, Comrade Uche Azuka-Osadebe, said hosting the event was made possible by the revolutionary determination of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, whose determination ensured the reconstruction of the Stephen Keshi Stadium, which is now redesigned to accommodate nine lanes, and others critical facilities required to host such as international event.

Comrade Osadebe expressed his delight, saying that the people of his local government are ready to massively support the state government in ensuring a successful hosting of Africa.

He said the championship which will make people from different parts of Africa gather in the state to enjoy their hospitality.
