Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, has been elected as chairperson of the board of directors of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank).
She was elected on Saturday at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and 25th anniversary of the African lender held in Abuja.
Mrs Adeosun will be succeeding the outgoing chairman and president of the financial institution, Mr Benedict Okey Oramah.
Her election came exactly a week she was accused of forging a certificate to secure her present job as Finance Minister.
She is yet to comment on the scandal as well as President Muhammadu Buhari, who appointed her as Nigeria’s Minister of Finance.
The Nigerian Minister will occupy her new position for 12 months.
Business Post reports that the board of directors of Afreximbank comprises 10 members from the three classes of shareholders; four representing Class ‘A’ shareholders including one director designated by the African Development Bank (AFDB), four representing Class ‘B’ shareholders and two representing Class ‘C’ shareholders.
