Former Finance Minister Adamu Ciroma Dies at 84

A former Minister of Finance, Mr Adamu Ciroma, has reportedly died in Abuja.

The deceased, who was also a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), was said to have died on Thursday at a hospital in Abuja after an illness.

He was aged 84.

Mr Ciroma was appointed a minister under the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

He was a founding member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), which governed Nigeria from 1999 to 2015 before it was defeated by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The elder statesman was also a one-time Minister of Agriculture as well as a former Managing Director of the New Nigerian Newspapers.
