Kaffy, Other Nigerian Dancers Under Appreciated—Mofe Boyo

In an attempt to improve the life of Nigerian creative industry practitioners, especially dancers and choreographers, fast-rising Nigerian Afro hip-hop sensation, Mofe Boyo, has lent her voice to the recent movement by some elite entertainers on the ill-treatment endured by dancers in the country.

The talented artiste, who recently shot some videos from her yet to be released album, remarked that “just like so many young people, I love dancing even more as a form of art. I knew dancers work a lot but I never knew they invest and work this much. They deserve to be highly recognized and rewarded like everybody else in the entertainment sector for their investment in the arts.”

Mofe explained further that, “Artistes are paid millions of Naira and these artistes employ dancers as staff but what I would like to see is record companies and brands signing dancers as talents and brand ambassadors respectively. Without dancers, artistes’ performance will be gloomy and lifeless. Kaffy is undoubtedly Nigeria’s greatest dance icon but in my opinion, she is still very under appreciated.”

“Dance still remains a part of showbiz that has not comparatively developed like music, comedy, acting and the likes. I really want to see this sector grow, let us see how we can create opportunities and indulge our hardworking youths. We can make this a platform of success for so many young people,” she said.

Mofe Boyo remains one of the shining lights in the Afrobeat and Afro-hip-hop genres. She has released a couple of singles and is scheduled to launch her anticipated album soon.
