Vocal federal lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye, has been apprehended by security operatives at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja.

The Senator from Kogi State confirmed his arrest on Monday morning at the international wing of the airport.

Mr Melaye was on his way to Morocco to attend a parliamentary function in the North African country.

“I have just been arrested at the international wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe airport on my way to Morocco for an official engagement sponsored by the Federal Govt after checking in,” the lawmaker announced via his Twitter handle today.

However, checks by Business Post revealed that Senator Melaye was stopped from boarding by security officials at the airport.

It is not certain if this was as a result of him being declared wanted by the police recently for failing to show up at their station in connection with an alleged possession of firearms.
