Bauchi Signs 2018 Budget of N167b into Law

The 2018 budget of Bauchi State worth N167 billion has been signed into law by Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar.

The appropriation bill was assented to by the Governor on Wednesday morning at the Government House with the full cabinet in attendance.

A breakdown of the document showed 40 percent going to Recurrent Expenditure and 60 percent to Capital Expenditure.

In line with his mantra to educate and improve the quality of lives in the state; the Education Sector got the biggest portion of 19.22 percent closely followed by the Health sector with 15.23 percent.

Furthermore, Mr Abubakar said this year, his administration will focus on completing all existing road and ongoing projects in the state. He reiterated his resolve not to leave any uncompleted project.

The Governor added that the budget will ensure economic diversification as agriculture, solid mineral development as well as Tourism has been given priority.

Mr Abubakar thanked the good people of Bauchi State, saying that the dividends of democracy will be felt in all the nooks and corners of the state. He also said that his administration’s consistency in allocating a huge chunk of the budget to education and health (above the Abuja declaration of 15 percent) has yielded much positive results.
