FG Tasks New NAICOM, NEXIM Bank Boards on Accountability, Integrity

Federal Government has charged members and chairmen of the newly reconstituted boards on accountability and probity.

On Thursday, Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, inaugurated the governing boards of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), Nigerian Export Import ‎Bank (NEXIM), Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) and Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme Fund (ACGSF).

‎The event took place at the Finance Ministry’s auditorium in Abuja and was attended by friends and family members of the new board members.

In her address, the Minister urged the board to see their appointments as call to national service and ensure they remain accountable.

According to her, they should work in harmony with their respective agencies to formulate and implement policies and programmes that would lead to success of government.

“The board members are saddled with the responsibility of policy formulation, while the management members are ‎saddled with the responsibility of execution,” she said.

Speaking further, she said the boards were reconstituted to enhance performance through efficient management of accrued resources for national development.”

She praised President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the boards and assured them of her full support.

“I offer you my support and the support of the directors in the ministry. We are here to support you. I hereby inaugurate the governing boards of the Nigerian Customs, NAICOM, NEXIM and ACGSF,” she said.

In his acceptance speech, Chairman of NAICOM board, Mr Emmanuel Jideofor, expressed gratitude on behalf of the members and promised to work assiduously towards repositioning Nigerian economy on the part of sustainable growth.

The members pledged their willingness to collaborate with the Ministry to ensure that the work is ‎done diligently.
