Cowbell Raises Prize Money for Mathematics TV Quiz Show

The 2018 edition of Cowbellpedia Secondary Schools Mathematics TV Quiz Show has taken a new dimension with new improvements added to the contest, leaving participating students to work harder to claim the prize.

Sponsors of the programme, Promasidor Nigeria Limited, has announced raising the cash prize across the stages of competition for both students and teachers.

In this year’s edition, the winner will no longer go home with N1 million, but N2 million with an all-expense paid educational excursion outside the country for the winners in both the senior and junior categories.

For the first and second runners-up, they will now be given N1.5 million and N1 million respectively.

This intervention of Cowbell and more recently through the Cowbellpedia initiative has provided a platform to identify, nurture and reward excellence in Mathematics.

Managing Director of the firm, Mr Anders Einarsson, while addressing newsmen in Lagos on Tuesday, stated that, “As part of our contribution to global education investment, Cowbell Our Milk has dedicated the last two decades to improving the standard of education in Nigeria with focus on Mathematics which is an important component of STEM and also pivotal for the nation’s technological advancement.”

He further said that, “This platform continues to arouse and re-awaken the interest of students in Mathematics at the secondary school level and further reinforce the importance of the subject area.”

Mr Einarsson told journalists that, “The teachers of the top prize winners will be awarded N500,000, while those of the first and second runners-up will receive N400,000 and N300,000 respectively.”

Speaking further, the company’s chief executive said an new initiative called Cowbellpedia Compendium would be launched.

He said this is a compilation of solved questions from the past Cowbellpedia Secondary School Mathematics TV Quiz Show editions for each category to improve proficiency of students in Mathematics.

Mr Anders also disclosed that in ensuring that great minds are discovered in Nigeria, the company will be starting the Cowbellpedia Academy, a workshop for students and teachers in partnership with a top foreign University to expose them to new and up-to-date learning techniques necessary to achieve and improve academic excellence.
