Residents of Osun State have been urged to imbibe the culture of contributing to governance through the payment of tax to the government.

Speaking at the inter religious service last week in Osogbo, the state capital, the state Governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola said if the people of  the state pay their tax as well as their dues, Osun will earn N5 billion monthly.

At the programme organised to usher in the new year at the Governor’s Office in Abere, Mr Aregbesola emphasised that government cannot survive without the payment of tax.

“Lagos State earns N1 billion daily on tax payment. If the people of Osun state pay their tax as well as their dues, Osun will earn N5 billion monthly.

“No government can survive without the payment of tax, we will ensure the management of the people resources in the state,” the Governor said.

Governor Aregbesola, who described the previous year as a very challenging one, promised the full payment of workers salary in the state.

However, he urged the people of state to engage in business and small scale enterprises, to develop the state.

He stressed further that the Peoples Democratic Party has failed the country, and mis-managed the economic resources of the state.

“PDP ruled this state for seven years and were unable to complete any project in the state, instead they criticize the ruling party,” he said

Mr Aregbesola also took time to enumerate some of his projects in the state such as O-Ambulance which has saved many lives in the state, Elementary and High Schools, Roads and Overhead bridges.

He urged the people of Osun not to vote for PDP for the sustainability of good governance in the state.
