British boxer with a Nigerian root, Anthony Joshua, has retained his heavyweight titles after beating his France-based Cameroonian opponent, Carlos Takam at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Saturday night.
Joshua beat his opponent in the 10th round after forcing the umpire to quickly step in to intervene in the mostly one-sided match.
Speaking during his in-ring interview, the boxer said, “I have no interest in what’s going on with the officials, I just worry about my opponent.
“Unfortunately, the ref stopped it. I think people wanted to see Takam unconscious on the floor, am I right?
“He was getting there. I didn’t have control over the ref’s decision. We get the win and now we look forward to 2018.”
This win now takes Joshua to 20 fights and 20 knock-outs.
