Arsenal star, Alex Iwobi, came from the bench to qualify Nigeria for the 2018 FIFA World Cup taking place in Russia.

The footballer, who dumped England to play for Nigeria, scored the only goal of the match against Zambia at the Godswin Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.

The Super Eagles had only needed a win to seal a spot in the 32-nation competition next summer in Russia.

Coach of the Nigerian team, Gernot Rohr, brought in Iwobi in the second half of the match and he made a huge impact moments later.

With Saturday’s win, Nigeria became the first African country to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Despite the win, Nigeria will still play the last match against Algeria.

Nigeria was group alongside three other nations; Algeria, Zambia and Cameroon with leader of the pack picking the sole ticket.
