As part of activities to mark its 10th anniversary, the Association of Chief Compliance Officer of Banks in Nigeria (ACCOBIN), formerly known as the Committee of Chief Compliance Officers of Banks in Nigeria (CCCOBIN), held a walk against financial crimes in Lagos on Saturday, September 16, 2017.

Members of the group kicked off the walk in Lekki and moved to the Ikoyi area of the state through the Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge.

On Tuesday, September 19, 2017, the group will hold a career talk where Compliance Officers of all banks across the country will visit selected secondary schools to enlighten the younger generation           on career opportunities in the Compliance Function and what it takes to be a Compliance Officer. The next day, which is Wednesday, September 20, 2017, the association will hold a Compliance Awareness Day set aside to educate the Nigerian public on the evils of major compliance related subjects like money laundering, terrorism financing, financial crimes, and corruption etc.

Chief Compliance Officers would be at TV and radio stations to discuss these issues and answer questions from the public.

On Thursday, September 21, 2017, a Compliance Conference Day and ringing of the closing gong at the Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE) will take place.

In addition, the ACCOBIN 10th Anniversary Compliance Conference’ themed ‘The Impact of Technology in Managing Compliance Risk in Banks’ will take place on this day.

Subject matter experts have been invited to make presentations on selected sub-themes that are important to banks. About 200 Compliance Professionals and other stake-holders in the Financial Services Industry are expected to attend.

The Committee has also been invited by the management of the Nigeria Stock Exchange to participate in the Closing Gong ceremony on the floor of the exchange.
