Reports reaching us from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, revealed that there was a short protest around venue of the 40th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Oando Plc today.

The demonstration, which lasted about 10 minutes, was carried out by those believed to be shareholders of the oil and gas firm.

However, the situation was quickly brought under control.

This information was even confirmed by Oando via its Twitter handle this afternoon.

As at the time of filing this report, the meeting has been concluded.

“We have successfully concluded our 40th AGM despite a 10 minute protest,” Oando Plc confirmed through its verified Twitter handle.

Before the meeting finally held today, there was an attempt to stop it from holding following petitions filed to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), alleging gross misconduct.

It was speculated that efforts were being made to ensure the Group Chief Executive of the firm, Mr Wale Tinubu, is removed.

Details later.
