Lafarge, Dangote Cement, Others Add N112b to Market Capitalisation

At the close of trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Friday, the market capitalisation increased further by N112 billion, closing at N11.73 trillion, compared with N11.61 trillion achieved on Thursday, Business Post reports.

The volume and value of shares transacted by investors finish higher, with a total of 378.2 million shares traded at N5.1 billion in 4,516 deals, in sharp contrast to 191.4 million equities exchanged yesterday worth N2.2 billion executed in 3,718 deals.

The All-Share Index (ASI) advanced by 324.54 points to settle at 34,020.37 points, pushing the YTD Gain to 26.59 percent.

Lafarge topped the gainers’ log today after adding N5.40k to its share price to close at N60 per share, while Dangote Cement moved up by N3 to finish at N212 per share.

Zenith Bank gained 90k to settle at N22.95k per share, Total appreciated by 88k to finish at N256.99k per share, and PZ Cussons grew by 75k to end at N22 per share.

On the other hand, Nestle drowned by N2 to close at N918 per share, and Nigerian Breweries sank by N1.35k to end at N159 per share.

Also, Berger Paints declined by 35k to end at N6.77k per share, Presco went down by 32k to finish at N61 per share, while Union Bank of Nigeria depreciated by 17k to settle at N5.30k per share.

Banking stocks remained investors’ toast on Friday with Access Bank accounting for 115.8 million shares traded at N1.2 billion.

Furthermore, Zenith Bank exchanged 39.4 million shares worth N888.4 million, while UBA transacted 36.6 million shares valued at N328.3 million.

GTBank sold 27.6 million shares worth N1.03 billion today, while Skye Bank transacted 20 million shares valued at N14.8 million.
