MTN Nigeria, Lumos Launch Mobile Electricity Package

A mobile solar electricity solution for the benefit of families and businesses around the country has been launched by MTN Nigeria in collaboration with Lumos.

The initiative was unveiled in Abuja on Monday, February 20, 2017 and was witnessed by senior officials of the two firms.

MTN Nigeria is one of the leading telecoms companies in Nigeria, while Lumos is a world renowned solar architect.

The Lumos Mobile Electricity Service, powered by MTN, hopes to be a catalyst for growth, poised to improve the daily lives of Nigerians.

It would give Nigerians the opportunity to enjoy accessible, noise-free and fume-free electricity for everyday use and conveniently pay with airtime from an MTN mobile phone.

The mobile electricity device which comes with a 5-year warranty and can light up bulbs and power appliances like fans, televisions, mobile phones and computers.

Business Post reports that the mobile electricity kit, sold at MTN stores nationwide, comprises a solar panel, an indoor power unit, phone charging accessories and 2 LED light bulbs.

Speaking on the deal, the CEO of MTN Nigeria, Mr Ferdi Moolman, stated that, “Our partnership with LUMOS was borne out of the need to provide safe, affordable electricity alternatives for Nigerians to uninterruptedly conduct their daily businesses.

“We at MTN value lives and the overall wellbeing of Nigerians and we’ll continue to put out initiatives that focus on providing life solutions.”
