Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor in the Office of Overseas Affairs and Investment (Lagos Global), Professor Ademola Abass, has commended the Investment Champions attached to all the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) for their proactive efforts at helping the State realise its goal of enhancing the ease of doing business.

According to a statement issued by the Office, the efforts of the Investment Champions in their various MDAs has improved the free flow of information and communication among the various government agencies for the creation of an enabling environment for investments to thrive.

He reiterated the commitment of the State government to boost the ease of doing business in order to attract the interest of both local and foreign investors and to improve service delivery.

Professor Abass praised the laudable achievements of the Investment Champions within the short period of their coming on board, as it has greatly improved the flow of investment related information between Lagos Global and the MDAs that serve as sector experts, providing technical assistance to the office.

In his words, “Office of Overseas Affairs and Investment, has the pivotal responsibility of effectively collaborating with all Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the State. Lagos Global was solely established as a one-stop shop to reduce the multi-agency handling of investment matters that had been a major setback in the drive to attract foreign direct investment into the State.”

“The responsibilities of the Investment Champions include, but not limited to, participating in preliminary evaluation of project proposals to assess their feasibility; fast track information dissemination on investment enquiries; follow up on investors’ proposals within the MDAs,” Abass added.

He maintained that Lagos State government’s vision of being the most desirable investment destination in the world would soon be realised if the level of commitment shown by all key players, especially the Investment Champions, is sustained.

It would be recalled that the Lagos State Government, last year, inaugurated a group of carefully selected public officers (known as “Investment Champions”) to serve as investment desk officers in the various Ministries, Agencies and Departments (MDAs) as part of efforts to improve the ease of doing business in the state.
