A skill acquisition training programme has been put in place for youths by the Delta State government.

This initiative, Business Post correspondent gathered, is part of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa-led administration’s plans to engage youths in the state for the growth of the state’s economy.

It was further learnt that it is also in fulfilment of Mr Okowa’s promise of reducing the number of unemployed youths in the state.

The training programme is to teach the youths different skills they can use to be economically viable to themselves and the state.

The scheme, under the control of the Delta State Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (DEMSMA), will hold at the Foot Wear and Leather facility Centre/Shoe factory in Issele-Uku.

Participants would be trained in making of foot wears and leather products.

Interested youths from Delta State have been advised to obtain application forms from DEMSMA in Asaba on or before Thursday, January 19, 2017.
