Former Cuban President, Mr Fidel Castro, has passed on. The Cuban revolutionary leader died on Friday at the age of 90.

His younger brother, Raul, who is currently the President of Cuba, announced the demise of Fidel in a broadcast on Friday night.

During his lifetime, Mr Castro brought the Cold War to the Western Hemisphere in 1959 and bedevilled 11 American Presidents. He was a fiery apostle of revolution.

After gaining power in 1959 through a coup, ousting the then military dictator, Mr Fulgencio Batista, Mr Castrol resigned in 2008 due his failing health and handed over to his brother, who is now 85.

Meanwhile, his death has been greeted with mixed reactions. While Cubans at home have expressed sadness, those in the United States have celebrated it, especially in Miami, where some Cubans ran to during the reign of Mr Fidel.
