Protest In Ondo Over Jegede’s Replacement As PDP Candidate

Some angry youths on Friday took to the streets of Akure, the capital of Ondo State, to kick against the replacement of Mr Eyitayo Jegede as candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

On Thursday, the electoral umpire announced Mr Jimoh Ibrahim as candidate of the PDP for the November 2016 governorship election in the state, stating a court ruling as its reason for this.

But the aggrieved youths of PDP the in Ondo State, during the protest this morning, called on INEC to immediately replace Mr Ibrahim with Mr Jegede.

Mr Jegede is of the Mr Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the PDP, while Mr Ibrahim is of the Mr Ali-Modu Sheriff.
