The sum of N11.2 billion was generated by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) from its Oyo/Osun Area Command in nine months.

This information was disclosed yesterday by the Customs Area Comptroller in charge of the Command, Mr Temitope Ogunkua.

He said the amount showed the revenue generated for the Federal Government between January and September 2016.

Mr Ogunkua, while speaking in Ibadan, Oyo State on the achievements recorded by the Command within the first three quarters of the year, also said it seized about 188 items with duty paid value of N368 million.

He advised smugglers to desist from the act and take the normal route and procedures to bring in their items into the country.

Speaking further, Mr Ogunkua noted that decision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Mr Hameed Ali, to prioritise welfare of officers and hard work has motivated the field operatives to do more. He expressed the readiness of his command to continue to fight smuggling.
