NSE Market Cap Gains N8b On Thursday

Equity transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) resumed in an upward trend on Thursday with the market capitalisation growing by N8 billion to close at N9.628 trillion after it opened at N9.620 trillion.

The all-share index recorded a gain of 0.08% after adding 22.5 points to close at 28,031.90.

Business Post correspondent gathered that 7up topped the gainers’ chart again on Thursday just like the previous day after it grew by N12.2k to finish as N158 per share, while Seplat followed after appreciating by N3.5k to close at N350 per share and ConOil gained N2.9k to end at N35.9k per share.

Dangote Cement grew by N1.99k to close N183.01k per share, while Forte Oil added N1.4k to finish at N159.9k per share.

On the other end, Total led the losers’ table shedding N8 to close at N287 per share, while Wapco trailed by losing N5.2k to finish at N49.6k per share.

Ashaka Cement fell by N1.24k to close at N15.03k per share, Oando lost 28k to finish at N5.32k per share and ETI declined by 26k to end at N11.14k per share.

Access Bank pulled the highest volume of shares traded on the NSE on Thursday like the previous day with a total 77.148 million shares worth N416.612 million, while Fidelity Bank closely followed with a total 42.351 million shares traded valued at N39.702 million.

An analysis of total number of shares traded today showed 348.801 million shares worth N2.645 billion were exchanged in 3.366 deals.
