Lafarge Appoints Bayet As New CFO

Lafarge Africa Plc has announced the appointment of a Belgian, Mr Bruno Bayet, as its new Chief Financial Officer.

A statement issued by the company’s secretary, Ms Uzoma Uja, disclosed that Mr Bayet’s appointment took effect from Saturday, October 1, 2016.

She explained in the statement that Mr Bayet, who over 16 years’ experience in Materials and Construction Industry, was appointed for the position after the Board of Directors of Lafarge “duly accepted the resignation of Mr Anders Kristiansson as the Chief Financial Officer of the company effective September 30, 2016.”

Ms Uja disclosed further that, “Following the vacancy of the position of Chief Financial Officer, the Board approved the appointment of Mr Bruno Bayet as the Chief Financial Officer of the company effective October 1, 2016.”

Mr Bayet holds a Business Engineer degree from Universite Catholique de Louvain-la-Neuve in Belgium and studied in Georgetown University for his MBA programme.

He is a specialist in Financial Risks Management.

Mr Bayet, who joined Lafarge in 2014, was manager in Corporate Finance with PricewaterhouseCoopers from 1998 to 2005.

He later joined Groupe Bruxelles Lambert, a Belgian Holding Company, from 2005 to 2011 in the Investments team as Senior Analyst.

From 2011 to 2013, Mr Bayet was an Executive Committee Member and Chief Financial Officer of Enterprise Generale Malta Forrest in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In December 2013, he was appointed Director of AshakaCem Plc, heading the Expansion and the Power Project in Ashaka and combined the role of CFO of AshakaCem Plc since September 2014.

In April 2016, Bruno was nominated as Strategy Director for Lafarge in Nigeria.
