Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Edo State, Mr Paul Okolie, has expelled from the party for defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mr Okolie was axed by APGA alongside other members over alleged anti-party activities.

On Monday, the APGA spokesman in the state led 1,000 of his supporters, including executive members and chieftains of APGA, to the APC ahead of the rescheduled September 28, 2016 governorship election in Edo State.

Addressing journalists in Benin City, Mr Okolie had noted that his decision to leave APGA was based on the conviction that only an APC government led by Mr Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Mr Philip Shaibu, can sustain the good works already started by the Mr Adams Oshiomhole, the outgoing Governor of the state.

But his former party, APGA, reacting to the development, stressed that Mr Okolie and his supporters had already been expelled from the party due to their involvement in anti-party activities and were no longer members of the party.

Chairman of APGA in Edo State, Mr Godfrey Ehizokhale Ehimhen, and the Secretary, Mr Aifuobhokhan Emmanuel, in a joint statement, warned members of the party across the state to desist from “political pr0stitution” or face sanction.

They insisted that its candidate for the rescheduled poll in the state, Mr Osaro Onaiwu, remains the only solution to Edo people’s problem.
