I’m Not On Twitter—Adeosun

Kemi Adeosun economy plan

By Modupe Gbadeyanka

Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, has said she is not operating an account on Twitter, saying the one on the popular social media platform is purely a parody account.

Mrs Adeosun, in a statement issued by her Media Adviser, Mr Festus Akanbi, dissociated herself from comments posted on Twitter via the account bearing her name.

The said parody account had posted comments regarding Nigeria’s economy, which was relied on by some Nigerians. This forced the Minister to make the clarification on Thursday, saying she has no hands in the comments.

“The attention of the Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, has been drawn to a fake Twitter handle in her name, saying that ‘recession is just a word.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Minister does not own a Twitter account. The Twitter handle currently trending, and any other Twitter handle presently in existence is not, and cannot be that of the Minister as a Twitter account has not yet been set up for her. It is obviously fake and does not represent the views and opinions of the Minister.

“Also at no time did the Minister, who addressed the media immediately after Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council, make such a statement,” Mr Akanbi said in the release.
