Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), Mrs Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, has congratulated Nigeria’s women’s soccer team, the Super Falcons, for winning the 2016 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations finals on Saturday, December 3, 2016, in Yaounde, Cameroon.

This is the eighth time that Nigeria has claimed this victory.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons claimed a 1-0 victory over hosts Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses at the final match in Yaounde.

Mrs Dlamini Zuma also commended runners-up for putting up a splendid performance.

She equally congratulated the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the Government and people of the Republic of Cameroon, as well as all teams for the magnificent organisation and participation in the 2016 Edition of the African Women Cup of Nations.

Sports events continue to unite the continent and embody aspirations 2 and 5 of Agenda 2063 which speak to an integrated Africa with a strong cultural identity, common heritage, values and ethics, she submitted.

Mrs Zuma was in Yaounde, Cameroon, on November 24, 2016, to throw her support in the AWCON 2016 Finals, organised in Yaounde and Limber, in Cameroon.
