Pensioners in Ogun State have received their entitlements for the month of August, Governor Ibikunle Amosun has disclosed.

In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mr Adejuwon Soyinka, the Governor said this was in fulfilment of his commitment to the welfare of public servants and pensioners in the Gateway State.

Mr Amosun further said that workers in the state have also received their own salaries for the month of August.

In the same vein, the state government has also ensured the payment of part of the outstanding cooperative deductions due to the workers.

Commissioner for Finance in Ogun State, Mr Adewale Oshinowo, described the payment of the deductions as “a promise kept” by Mr Amosun.

“It is a further demonstration of the commitment of this administration to the welfare of its workforce,” he further said.

Mr Oshinowo also disclosed that, “As at September 8, 2016, the Ogun State Government has fully paid all categories of staff, including local government and pensioners. The state has also paid part of the outstanding cooperative deductions. This is in a bid to ensure that our workers enjoy the coming Eid-el-Kabir holiday.”

He explained that the state government had earlier promised workers that the outstanding cooperative deductions would be paid in batches until the existing backlogs are cleared.

“It is in fulfilment of this, that the governor ordered the payment of part of the outstanding deductions,” the Commissioner said.
